SeOuL!

!SPARKLING KOREA!

i'm sure that everyone know about Korea.
I'm the first fan or Korea drama series!
Seoul is a very popular megacities in Asia.

It is a region located in the north-west of South Korea. It is generally referred to as Sudogwon in Korean, and contains three different districts they are Seoul, Incheon and a large part of Gyeonggi-do.

The picture below shows Seoul Tower which is in Namsan Park.
"Covering only about 12% of the country's area, the Seoul metropolitan area is home to more than 48.2% of the national population, and is the world's 7th largest urban area. This percentage has risen steadily since the mid-20th century, and the trend is expected to continue. Currently more than half of the people who move from one region to another are moving to the capital area.By 2020, it is projected that more than 52% of South Korea's population will live within the area, or 25,520,450.8 people"
sources from;www.wikipedia.com
The cities of the capital area are tightly interconnected by road and rail.In addition, the needs for commuter rail are served by the Seoul Metropolitan Subway, which passes not only through Seoul and Incheon, but also through most of the outlying cities.

In addition, the region is a suitable for traveling by air and water. The country's two largest airports, Incheon International Airport and Gimpo Airport, are both located in the metropolitan area.
International and domestic ferries depart from Incheon's various ferry terminals several times a day; in addition, massive volumes of international freight pass through the container terminals of Incheon (primarily bound to and from China).

And for any person who love shopping here is your heaven!
Just like in Western,Seoul has lots of shopping complexes that really pull your money out!

~so that's all about Seoul as one of the megacities!~

~Francesco Petrarca as orator~

An orator, or

oratist, is a (public) speaker. He or she will speak on any issue which shows some expressions and to support or protest some point of view.
So an orator maybe supported by some people who think in the same way.
This week we'll share about Francesco Petrarch!
You know him??
Of course!
So here we'll go trough his biography and for sure you will not close your mouth!
;)
He was born on 20 July 1304
He spent his early childhood in the village of Incisa, near Florence,Italy
Petrarch was interested in writing and Latin literature.
Additionally from his bad history of life he became dislike for the legal system. He protested,
"I couldn't face making a merchandise of my mind", as he viewed the legal system as the art of selling justice.
The later part of Petrarch's life he spent in journeying through northern Italy as an international scholar and poet-diplomat.
Petrarch is best known for his Italian poetry.
Petrarch is traditionally called the father of Humanism and considered by many to be the
"father of the Renaissance." He was the first to offer a combination of abstract entities of classical culture and Christian philosophy.
Petrarch argued instead that God had given humans their intelligence and creative potential to be used to their fullest.
He inspired humanist philosophy which led to the intellectual of Renaissance.
He expressed in his writings were seized upon by Renaissance humanist philosophers and argued continually for the next 200 years!
wooooww!
Not long he died peacefully on 19 July 1374...................................

art!
talking about art....there are many ideas occur in my mind and finally I suggest to post this~
..............GRAFFITI................
Have you heard about this type of art before??
actually it is everywhere around us!!
guess what??

Graffiti is a type of art that which form as figure drawings, etc.,
Based on ancient history it was found on the walls of ancient ruins, as in the Catacombs or at Pompeii.
However, now a day, it is anywhere around the us.
For example;on the wall of buildings, trains, telephone booth, etc.,

In other word, the people now a day, ecspecially teenagers have expressed it in the wrong way or what we call vandalisme!!

Even it has become that worst, the beauty of this art never gone away!

To curb this vandalisme from going to far, the government has encourage the teenagers
to come out and show their ability in this art and it has become a grand competition country wide
and not only in Malaysia but also all around the world!!!

To create a figure on the wall needs lots of creativity and patience.
However, with passion these peoploe manage to create such a boombastic job!!
In graffiti, spray paint in aerosol cans is totally important!
And....nothing else but a will to do it until fully finish!
Certain experts manage to draw a great figure in just minutes of time! :0

For me, this art is really wonderful. I have seen the painting on the wall of various buildings and they are really beautiful even the painter is somebody else who we call 'problems maker!'
Deep inside,I give a big clap to them even it is quite negative;P

MEDIA - Effect of horror movie.

Effect of horror movie to children and adult.

Normally people will watch a horror movie when they are invited to,
and not because they are willing to do so.
When something happened without willingness, it will give a big impact
to our physical and emotional.

There are several effect of horror movie to children and adult
which are :-

1) Anxiety : It is charachterized as a long effect on children,
which may even longer into their adulthood.

2) Sleepless : The person may find inability to sleep at night for a few days,
even months after watching the movie.
They may need to use nighlight while sleeping.
They thought the horrifying characters appeared
and hunt them
.This leading to sleepless nights.

This situation already experienced by me when I was young.
At that time, I could not even take a bath by closing the door.
So, I was babble by my mom.
Its happened for a week.

3) Fear : The person may become afraid of the dark.
They may cried, scream, tremble or even shake when the
horror movie had really scared them.
Fear of dying and loosing control are also associated
with the horror movie.

4) Phobia : As the result of watching the situation of horror movie,
the person may develop of phobia towards things
such as blood,fire and animals.
Sometimes, they saw something like a ghost.

As the conclusion, parents should be aware the type of media
that may constribute to enduring fright effect in their children.
For an adult, they should stand with their own opinion.
Do not hesitated to refuse something that you are not willing to do.

Science And Mathematics In English (PPSMI)

The PPSMI(Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran dalam Bahasa Inggeris) has been announce as the government policy in 19 July 2002 under the fourth prime minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad. The PPSMI had been carrying on since 2003, started with the Standard One student for the primary school and Form One until Form Six for the secondary school.

In 2007, the secondary students who taking a public examination, Penilaian Menengah Rendah and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia were the first batch to perform their exam according to the PPSMI. So, for the Science and Mathematics subjects, it will be conducted in two languages, Bahasa Malaysia and English. In my opinion as the second batch for the PPSMI project, the PPSMI make an important role for more understanding about the subjects especially in sciences subjects. Many scientific words are in English and cannot be translated into Bahasa Malaysia. The results shows the increasing in the scores of the two subjects especially.

For the primary school, about 520 000 students taked part in the Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah in 2008. They can answer in any language that they want, either the Bahasa Malaysia, English, Chinese or Tamil in Science and Mathematics subjects. 31% of them answered the Science questions in English, while another 46% of them answered the Mathematics paper in English. But most of them ere the students who studied in town...

Some of the politician had a bad feeling about the PPSMI. They thought that PPSMI will effect the position of the main languages in Malaysia, Bahasa Malaysia. So, in 5 April 2008, the Parti Keadilan Rakyat, has said that he would not tolerate about the position of Bahasa Malaysia in this harmony country. Around the end of year 2008 and early 2009, Gerakan Mansuhkan PPSMI (GMP) is made and the leader is Datuk Hassan Ahmad, ex-director of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. GMP make their first demonstration in Kuala Lumpur, SOGO shopping mall at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman in 31 January 2009.

For me, they should not involves in PPSMI because the PPSMI bring more advantages to the students especially for the secondary level. It based on my experiences while i'm study here, in University Putra Malaysia. All the references book in university level are conducted in English. Rarely, we can find the references in Bahasa Malaysia. Ex-president MAS, Tan Sri Dato' Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman said that PPSMI is against the law because it has against with seksyen 17(1) Akta 550 Akta Pendidikan 1996.

Ovearall, the PPSMI bring so much benefit to the students. On the other hand, the PPSMI projects is being charged too early. I said that because this coutry is lack with the skillful Sciences and Mathematics teachers who manage to teach their students in English. So, it causes the level of education of the students became very low. It makes the politicians thought that PPSMI only a troublesome, not a device to improve the students skill. As a students itself, I think the government SHOULD continue the PPSMI for the next generation advantages especially when they want to involve in any interview for a jobs.

Swine Influenza (H1N1)

Influenza A(H1N1) virus is a subtype of influenzavirusA and the most common cause of influenza(flu) in humans. Some strains of H1N1 are endemic in human and cause a small fraction of all influenza-like illness and a large fraction of all seosonal influenza. This virus was originally referred to as “swine flu” because laboratory testing showed that many of the genes in this new virus were very similar to influenza viruses that normally occur in pigs in North America. But further study has shown that this new virus is very different from what normally circulates in North American pigs. It has two genes from flu viruses that normally circulate in pigs in Europe and Asia and avian genes and human genes. Scientists call this a “quadruple reassortant” virus.
The symptoms of H1N1 (swine flu) in people are similar to the symptoms of regular human flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have reported diarrhea and
vomiting associated with H1N1 (swine flu). In the past, severe illness(pneumonia and respiratory failure) and deaths have been reported with H1N1 (swine flu) infection in people. Like seassonal flu, H1N1 (swine flu) may cause a worsening of underlying chronic medical conditions.
In children emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention:
-Fast breathing or trouble breathing
-Bluish or gray skin color
-Not drinking enough fluids
-Severe or persistent vomiting
-Not waking up or not interacting
-Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
-Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
In adults, emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention:
-Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
-Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
-Sudden dizziness
-Confusion
-Severe or persistent vomiting
-Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse

Actions to Help Prevent Swine Flu:

* Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
* Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze.
* Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth and try to avoid close contact with sick people.
* If you get sick, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.

~COMMunicaTION~

"Communication is a process of transferring information from one entity to another."
sO tHAt what we're going to share with you this week~

Types of communication

There are three major parts in human face to face communication which are body language, voice, and words. According to the research:

55% of impact is determined by body language—postures, gestures, and eye contact,

38% by the tone of voice, and

7% by the content or the words used in the communication process.

there are various types of communicstion around us some of them are
  • Visual communication
  • Nonverbal communication
  • Dialogue or verbal communication

To lead a better life we have to practise an effective communication~

Here are some ways to lead you for a better communication habit:

  1. Think before you speak.....

  2. Get to the point.....must!don't be blurr

  3. Respect point of view......

  4. Allow feeling to flow.....

  5. Show your enthusiasm out be ourselves....

and ask some questions but don't be too much!

so that's about effective communication~

Let's we see the flow of each communication in our daily life:

IdEa

CoNsTrUcT

trAnSmIt

ReCePtIoN

iNtErPrEt

UnDeRsTaNdInG

rEsPoNd

The idea is what we know frow any sources such as from reading, observing and also academic event. When we getting an idea we'll construct it to form a type of text that consist of proper language usage, symbols and body language. Then,we'll transmit the idea by interpreting it correctly.Lastly,we'll get a feedback form the other which it may be positive or vise versa. However,to be a good communicator,we should accept the response in every way.Think positive is the best answer.

That's all for this week~

See u!

Emo Music...

My Chemical Romance - I Don't Love You

Where?d You Go?

so Never Think I'd Make You Try To Stay,

and Maybe When We Get There,

i'll Think Enough,to Find Another Way,

when After All This Time,is You Still Around,

you're Still The God Falling Nothing I Have Found,

so Take Your Glass Again,

and Get Out,

while You Can,

where?d You Go?and Would You Even Turn To Say,

i Don't Love You,

like I Did Yesterday,

sometimes I Cry So Hard For Pleading,

so Sick And Tired All The Mean Less Meaning,

but Baby When They Knock You Down And Out,

it's Where You'll Wanna Stay,

and After All The Blood That You Still Have,

another Time I Was Chancing It All Around,

so Fix Your Eyes And Get Up,

baby,

Get Up,

while You Can,

where?d You Go?and Would You Even Turn To Say,

i Don't Love You,

like I Did Yesterday,

where?d You Go?would You Have The Guts To Say,

i Don't Love You,

like I Loved You,
yesterday,
i Couldn?t Love You,

like I Loved You,

yesterday,

i Don't Love You,

like I Loved You Yesterday

POPULATION DENSITY AND GROWTH

Population in Malaysia can be divided into 3 main areas:

~ compact population
Have more than 5000 people in a km
Example :
In Peninsular Malaysia
• Kuala Lumpur
• Lembah Klang

In Sabah and Sarawak
• Kuching
• Kota Kinabalu

~ moderate population
Usually stated near by the city
Have population less than the compact area
Example :
In Peninsular Malaysia
• Lembah Sungai Kelantan
• Lembah Sungai Perak

In Sabah and Sarawak
• Sarikei – Bitagor
• Lembah Kinabatangan

~ wide-apart population
In rural areas consist of mountains, thick tropical forest and swamp
Main range areas in Malaysia
• Banjaran Titiwangsa
• Banjaran Crocker
• Banjaran Gunung Tahan

About the pie chart:
The data is taken from 2003 to 2008
The data increases slightly because of the following factors:
~ economic
~ social
~ physical
~ government policy

About the bar graph:
~The data is taken from 2002 to 2008
~The data drops a little for the age < 15 years
~While for the age between 15 until 64 years, the data is rose steadily.
~For the age > 64 years, the population grew slightly except for the year 2005 and 2006 which were unchanged

The conclusion:
~We can se that population in Malaysia increased steadily annually for every stage of ages.
~There may be some economically factors which effect this result.
~In future, the population of Malaysian may increase in the same way too.

~LoY kRaThOng fEsTiVaL~

'LOy LOy KratHOnG......LOy LOy KratHOnG'
Have you heard this words before??
Yes!?
or...Never??
based on the theme given this week~customs...
so this is great time for us to share something~
As what mentioned above
this week we'll share with you about 'Loy Krathong Festival'
It is a festival practised by Buddhists in Thailand, our closest neighbour.
This festival is traditionally performed on the full moon night usually in November annually.
The floating of 'krathong'~a banana leaf cup~ in the river is the main purpose for this festival.
Based on the people belief, the floating of krathong is to float away their bad luck as well as to make apologies to Khongkha or Ganga th river Goddess.

"Loi" means "to float". "Krathong" is a raft about a handspan in diameter traditionally made from a section of banana tree trunk (although modern-day versions use specially made bread 'flowers' and may use styrofoam), decorated with elaborately-folded banana leaves, flowers, candles, incense sticks etc.

In addition, fireworks and beauty contests also take place during the festival.
The beauty Queen contest as an important hight lightof the night. It is called "The Noppamas Queen Contest". Noppamas is a legendary figure from Sukhothai period in the past. It was said that "Noppamas" was a chief royal consort of a Sukhothai-King names "Lhe-thai". She may be the first person who invented and decorated Krathong in Thailand used for floating in the river on this.

However in Chiang Mai the north state in Thailand celebrate Loy Kra Thong in a different style. They float thousands of Khom Fai into the air. Making a Khom Fai will need a lot of artistic skills as well as scientific techniques, just like the ones used in making a balloon. Tracing paper or Sa paper is used to make air bags of various shapes. It is believed that flying a Khom Fai is like flying grief and ill fortune away.
~So that's all about Loy Kra Thong Festival~
.....tHanX u.....
~we're glad to have some comments from u~
